Chartered by the Grand Lodge of  Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of North Carolina.

King Masonic Lodge #722 was chartered in 1961. The idea of forming a Masonic Lodge in King, NC originated in Pilot Mountain Lodge #493.  The masons from King were members at Pilot Mountain and had to travel there for meetings.  It was the consensus of the King members there were enough members to form a lodge in King.

The first discussion regarding forming King Lodge was held in the King fire station on August 1, 1960.  A petition for a lodge under dispensation was created and submitted to the Grand Lodge of North Carolina A.F. & A.M.  The by-laws were submitted and approved on November 4, 1960.

The August 1 meeting was called to order by Bro. Jack D. Long and Bro. Robert G. Rierson, who introduced Bros. Ed Fey, DDGM from Pioneer Lodge #685 , Dr. John Bender of Forsyth Lodge #707 and J.B. Turner of Pioneer Lodge #685.  The following nominations were made:

King Lodge was adopted as the name for this new lodge.

Bro. Ed Fey, DDGM, instructed the brethren on proper procedure in preparation for organizing a new lodge.

Bro. A.E. Garner proposed that each member donate $5 to the treasurer for working capital.  A motion by Bro. Spencer Newsom, seconded by Bro. Ralph Slate in support of the proposal was carried unanimously.

Organizational meetings were held on August 13 and 26 in Winston-Salem and October 13, 1960 at the King High School
